384k Uncapped from MWEB costs R1072.00 Just spoke to MWEB call desk, 6.7 GB rolling threshold per 10 day cycle. This sounds semi decent as apposed to changing to AXXESS, coz will save grief from changing my parent email addresses and such.

Anybody using this offer ?

^^ never heard of such service. Why is it not published on their website?

What speed do you get once you reach your threshold?

Remember with Axxess you get full speed after hours even if you have exceeded your threshold.

It might be better to pay for the email address at Mweb and get the account from Axxess.

You people who refuse to move from Mweb because of your email address need a tight slap :p

Just pay for the email address separately. R1000+ for 384k 'uncapped' with a rolling threshold is pathetic, especially if they're not offering full line speed after hours as Axxess do. My guess is Mweb are ripping new holes as usual.

Wow, that's not bad then.. if it is true!

Pity that M-web already lost me as a customer with their crap treatment of us!

Hi All,

Just to confirm, MWEB's ADSL Uncapped Starter (Express) products, found here ...

http://www.mwebbusiness.co.za/products_and_services/products.aspx?ParentID=208&MenuID=118

provide full speed up to 4 Mbps after hours (20h00 - 8h00 weekdays & all weekend), even if one has exceeded their 10 day rolling threshold.

MWB.

Is there another area where more information is displayed?
That page displays hardly anything but line speeds, caps & prices...
There is no mention of the thresholds and line speeds after hours there that I can see either.

Not that I am interested.
But MWEB should really display more detailed information regarding their products on their web site...

Mr MWEB, another question, if i upgrade the account now to this account, will i pay pro-rata for the month ?

So according to this, if MWEB thinks that you have gone to far over the 26GB usage threshold, they can suspend the service?

Should Customer’s usage go over the specified usage level before the end of the 10 day rolling window,
period, MWEB Business shall without prejudice to any of its rights in terms of the law and/or this Agreement,
be entitled to reduce Customer’s line speed by 50% (fifty percent) until Customer’s usage is restored to the
required usage level. For the avoidance of doubt, should Customer’s usage level not be reduced after the
expiry of the 10 (ten) day rolling window period, MWEB Business shall be entitled to suspend Customer’s
Uncapped ADSL Starter.

Hi uncle_frank, apologies for the delay, was gathering all the necessary info to ensure an accurate response.

Firstly with regard to upgrading, we only allow cross-product upgrades (different backend infrastructure) to occur on calendar month boundaries to avoid any complications. All VAS services will however remain intact e.g. email accounts, faxmail, Webcall, Wifi minutes etc. though a new ADSL username/password will be issued.

Next with regard to contract term, unfortunately the current business rule for the Uncapped Starter product is a 12 month contract. I am doing some 'hard talking' with our Product dept. to see why this is.

Lastly with regard to the Terms & Conditions, the standard T&Cs are designed to safeguard MWEB against any malicious, unlawful or unforeseen circumstances, and are also aligned to our upstream provider's terms. Under normal circumstances we do not suspend the Uncapped Starter accounts for high usage, however the 10 day rolling threshold throttling will of course apply during business hours (8h00 - 20h00 weekdays).

Finally for clarity, I would like to add that our Uncapped Starter product is based on the Express service, and thus uses satellite bandwidth. To compensate on the 384 product we have upped the 10 day rolling threshold to 7.6GB instead of the normal 5GB.

Also note that while throttling is not applied after hours, the traffic during this period is still counted toward the threshold calculation. If one is to use the product heavily after hours (i.e. on 4Mbps line) the effect will be that you would be almost permanently throttled to 192Kbps on a 384 account during business hours for the month.

Hope this clarifies any questions you have.

MWB.
