Hey guys.

Whats the maximum can you download using a 384K uncapped account. Account wud be a standard account, not gold or platinum, and using a 10mbs line.

Anybody done greater than 100GB in a month?

Cheers

Considering that you are on a 10mbs line, it may be possible to exceed the speed set by your isp from time to time, however, if we look at the raw figures.
384k / 8 = 48kBps
48*60*60*24 = Considering you are downloading 24/7 = 4147200KB in an day
4147200KB*30 (Average Days in a month) = 124416000KB/1000000 to get to GB = 124.416GB

Eventially meaning that if you downloaded at the max speed of 48KB for the entire month constantly, you could do 124GB. However with overheads and what not, its not quite true.

I have had a 384kb uncapped account from mweb, and the max I did was +-70GB.
Hope I helped you somewhat :)

Hi..

were u using a 384k line? Also what happens if u use this 384k account on a 10mbs line?

I'd have to go check, but the maximum I ever used on a 384 line, between uploads and downloads, was 110GB (combined). On a 384 the up:down ratio is usually 1:10, so that would mean around 100GB downloaded <-- this was very hard work though, since at no time could I stop downloading.

Yeah I was on a 384k line, and look again at the top of my post, I said, if you use it on a 10mb line, it may exceed 48kb from time to time due to the line being able to go that fast.

Yeah, it is possible to do more, but you literally have to be downloading 24/7 at full speed. Soz for double post.

Standard acounts are drasticly shaped in downloads and you would not get any where near 100gb you will be throttled before you reach that far i.s acounts are not for downloading. They throttle the top 20% of users the max you would do if 40gig a month rather get silver uncapped.

70GB per month downloading big files during the night and some series during the day with gaming in between :)

It's difficult to keep up downloading 24/7. You'll run out of stuff to download in a few months, trust me (that or disk space, lol). With my daily routine/downloading I'm doing about (on average) 85gb a month.

I have to add that with IS based uncapped accounts it usually bursts if that makes sense. Although its a 384k account they will try and limit you as much as possible to that but I have noticed that IS seems to burst up to full line speeds sometimes. Although HTTP will be capped at like 50kbs you will also be able to max your upload speed cause it seems they don't limit the upload speeds. Stuff like p2p might burst higher than 384k if you have a faster line and IS based uncapped.

Cool man..

that sounds reasonable since i managed to download 187GB last month. :)

Cheers

Lol!

Evidently you're not being limited to 384kbps.... Usually if you have say a 4Mb account and a 10Mb line, you will be able to run at 4Mb and not the "4Mb line limit" of ~3.5Mbps.
Getting 187GB out is about 700Kbps average.

Its also maybe possible to push it a bit more. It allow 2 concurrent connections. They say that speeds will be halfed but that give greater chance to burst to higher speeds. So if you really want to push it you create 2 pppoe connection on the same line with different pc's and see what you get. :)

That sounds like a great idea... download sum huge files.. lets see what i can download this month..

Everyone here totally misses the point of uncapped.

Your best be would be to hit the torrents. Seems that's where you will get the most speed. My usage for this month on a 1mb uncapped account on my 4mb line is 145GB so I am happy. I download my stuff when I'm not using the line so its not even 24/7 downloading.
