I had small matter of Arsenal v Barcelona to tend to last night

so didn't play much on the web. I checked up on my torrents after the game and they were hovering around 80kB but shot up to over 100kB here and there. This morning when I left at around 8 they were down to 60-something kB.
I'll watch some youtube videos tonight and I need to download the new PS3 update anyway so I'll post some feedback on those later this evening.
Marty,
Torrents are not a true reflection of your speed/ latency, rather stop all activity on the line and run a test at
http://www.speedtest.net/\
This is best run before 8pm in the evening as the ADSL Network becomes saturated and you dont want that affecting your results.
Keep in mind as well that the quality of your bandwidth is also determined by the package you signed up for, ie. is it shaped or unshaped.
Your download/upload speed should remain the same regardless of your package, however you may find that if you have a shaped line that your latency is high.
My exchange supports 10Mb/s however my Line Attenuation and SNR stats were not good, so to improve them I asked Telkom to rebuild the port for my line at 8Mb/s, now my stats are excellent.
I have an unshaped WebAfrica account and on a good day at a good time can get as little as 12ms latency, with upload/download speeds reflecting what my line is actually synced at.
I often host other gamers when playing on Xbox Live, even though most of them are in Europe because my line stats are pretty decent.
Once the new underseas cable is ready WACS, then hopefully they will be even better.
If you plan to play PS3 online then your line speed is fine at 4Mb/s, even 512, but your latency is what really counts, a high latency the online gaming will seem jerky and you could time out.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
milo
