384kbps uncapped ADSL with Gaming Pack launched by OpenWeb

That's amazing value for money for 384k subscribers. The 1gig GOLD bandwidth will come in handy for Seacom downtime.

It sounds pretty good.

Seeing as it's on the standard uncapped system, I'm assuming this will be IS? This is great for local gaming, but how will it fair with international gaming? WoW, GW, LoL, etcetera. I know I get better latency on my VB account than on my IS account on international servers (but my IS is better on local than VB).

Sounds interesting. Thinking of trying it out. Am mostly an EA gamer, any feedback on latency there via IS?

"Priced at R349 per month, the service offers a free .co.za domain..."

I think the word "free" is too freely used these days...

I agree - I wish that everyone could stop using the word FREE... "But wait, there is more....call now and....absolutely FREE". It puts me off immediately. I am prepared to pay for something worth its quality.

Just yesterday I was thinking of my capped ADSL (384K-10GB/month@Afrihost) barely fitting my wallet. Now, I would love to play games on a 384K line, but then this leaves NOTHING for downloads and since it is uncapped, the shaping will not make it worth the while - let alone the Monday morning 08:00 drop in line speed on ALL accounts, whether it be capped or uncapped.

We are being under the thumb by ALL providers and forced to subsidize the funding of THEIR equipment. There will be no realistic experience with decent bandwidth at a good price for a whole couple of years to come. Too much capitalization leaves greedy ones to skim off the top, instead of really using the money for the greater good.

Organizing a LAN party at home is a better idea, but then again ESKOM goes and takes the moola. Only in RSA!
