Ok heres my specs:

Pentium D 920 2.8ghz
asus p5pe-vm
2x 512 ddr400
Powercolor 3850 AGP 512
Antec NSk3300 with SU300B 300wat psu
12v+:8A 12v+(1): 14.5A

Ok now its been bothering me a bit now since I changed cards in the last two years. It ranged from a x1600pro to 6800XT to 7600GS and now my 3850

Since the only 3dmark tool I got is the 2001 SE version, that might be a cause of the problem but my score always ranged from 16000 to 11000

For instance the x1600pro had a score of 16k
the 7600GS had a score of 12k, 13k overclocked
the 6800XT had 11k, 14k overclocked

And now my hd 3850 had a score of 14k which is damn low.
And score remains the same at all settings...

Now i recorded the gpu clock, mem speed, cpu utilization and temp
gpu clock jumped from 300mhz to 668mhz
cpu was up and down, peaked at 90%
memory freq stayed the same at 828
and temp peaked at 51degrees.

So it seems like the cpu isn't really the bottleneck, could the psu be the culprit?

3dmark 05 and 06 is way too big for me to download...only beginning of the month now.

Any suggestions?

well you benching a 2008 card with a very old benchmark program

could be that hey

rather download a newer version of 3dmark

you could try aquamark which is only a 60mb download

do you still have the other cards?

MAybe something in your system is creating a bottleneck, so your 3d card can only run at a certain speed (Say 70% potential rather than 100%) Becase something else is holding it back? Not giving it enough work to do? So its always performing stable at a certain max?

nope, sold them all. So i cant compare. :(

Cool I'll give aquamark a try later on then.

Any other game demos I can try?

Yeah the gpu hardly went up to 100%...mostly at 70%

But thats still low for my score...

What i want to know is what is holding it back

cpu, ram, and you gotta remember that these newer cards are designed for pci-e 2.0 , so that might be the bottleneck, I mean, you can't expect the card to perform at it's best if it's running through an AGP slot,

But it irritates the stuff out of me seeing others with single core cpu and similar ram obtaining higher scores than me.

But anyways I can run every game I have maxed out (which isnt much :P)...wanna borrow crysis from a friend and see how that runs

Ok I benched with Aquamark and got 65k, is that good or bad?

Ok since I upgraded my cpu to E4300 @ 2.4ghz and upped my ram size to 2gigs with vesto heatspreaders

My scores all almost doubled.
Before ---- after:
Aquamark 65k 105k
3dmark03 15k 29k
06 5.5k 9k

I guess cpu's are very important :P
