Help !!
Using EvoCam to record a movie through the iSight camera I have a 39.5GB file. When trying to open it with Quicktime Pro, I get an error message saying it is not a movie file. VLC is not interested in it either. The problem has something to do with the file size.
Immediately after I got the error message I tried to make another small movie file, exactly the same settings etc. The smaller file opens & plays perfectly.
How to I remedy this & get the large file to play (with any movie player).

you could also try to split the 39.5GB file into smaller files by using hjsplit, then edit the parts individually.

tried converting - tried a few apps (handbrake etc.) they do not recognize the file type.
splitting doesn't seem to do it either.

Any other ideas ?

File is too big to fit in RAM. You need to get it into a more managable format. Try QMC HD. Everything I've ever tried works perfectly in there. An .mkv is your best bet, but you'll need a recently updated media player to play it (VLC 1.1.11 or K-lite Mega 770)
