Hi guys, I hope some one can help.

When i play games say Age of Empires 111 or World of Warcraft, I some times get some jagged lines all over the place, or from time to time parts of the screen like flash white. Its weird, its like for eg: lines come out of my characters. Sorry i am struggling to discribe this:o
This is happening more and more and only start happening recently.

Could this be my 3D Card (Nvidea gforce 7800gt) or my screen (ACER LCD) or what?

Please can some one help suggest what i should do?

Thank you very much

It sounds like the card. This is normally the sort of thing that happens when the card is running hot. Are you overclocking? Maybe check that the fan & heatsink on the card is clear & clean. Do you have software that can tell you the card temperatures?

yeah, there used to be a program with these little purple hairs on a block, and when you start seeing white spots on the purple hair, either the video mem is running too fast or the core is overheating. can't for the life of me remember what it's called though.

Thanks for your replys guys. I do not think it is overclocked. It has only started to happen in the last few months. The program that comes with it tells me that the temp is sitting on 70 degrees. Is that normal?

I hope my 3D card is not going $$$:(:(:(

the max is 115c
down a new driver and test

Sounds like artifacts to me. If thats 70 degrees at idle its pretty high.

threshold is 47 degrees i think.I know what you talking about,I had that problem to with a 5200 256ddr1 geforce,a long time back. Its like triangles and shyte happening.
Its is the grafix card and the exchange of information from the program files(where the game is installed...btw are you running the game with daemon tools installed.
The files you copied from the game to the program files has lost some information,dx9 c will have to be reinstalled and make sure the games are reinstalled again.
i fixed it by reinstalling the games and direct x and cleaning my fan from the gpu

if its 70 idle imagine how hot it gets when playing games

even 70 while playing games is hot

how is the air flow in your box?

upgrade your box to an aerocool zero degree

Peeps, seems like it is time we all checked our machines for dust! ;) I am doing that today. Spring is here and hello hot running machines! :)

Also a good time to reposition the cards. Take out stuff, blow it clean at the garage (making sure the fans don't move by holding them with your finger as spinning too fast ruins them) and refit.

Today is a good day I guess.

How do you blow it clean? Please don't tell me you're using a compressor?

My card reached something in the 80s (I think 86'C) once while playing games. Didn't have any problems with it though...

antowan, you right time to check for dust.I just cant see myself blasting the damn pc with such force, like that thingy migig you have.i prefer stripping the whole thing down.My fan of my cpu is bolted on my motherboard, with plastic nut and bolts.A modification i invented for theft.I am serious when i say this, you might laugh but i did this.

You've got a water trap right?

Been blowing the pc out for ages. I have my hands in the box and know how far or near to hold the nozzle. Should there be any moisture in the air it would have evaporated by the time I get home. :) I just make sure I protect the fans. One good blow usually gets the job done.

I don't accept responsibility if folks get nasty surprises, but a normal garage has got what I need to get the job done.

I use my mouth and sneeze a lot afterwards...its impossible to carry a tower to a garage whilst riding a bike :D

By the way I also see artifacts when I play heros of might and magic 5 with my 6200A
It is overclocked but when I check the temperature level it never goes past 38degrees...could it be coz I screwed a 10cm system onto the passive heatsink...or coz the temperature sensor is broken...

The artifacts goes after minimizing the game and then opening it again...

GUYS GOOD NEWS!

All it took was five minutes of cleaning with a vacuum cleaner and EVERY thing works perfectly again. Thank you all very much was so worried my 3D was going to die ($$$)

Moral of the story: A Clean lifestyle is a good lifestyle:):)

Thank you all once again.
