Well, just got meself a Sammy D6600 - is the 3D Projection at least as good as LG - I believe it is 'active' vs the 'passive' of LG.

Secondly, can one 3D content, like to be played via a flashdrive or is it only possible on a physical Blu-ray disk and player?

Hi Aharon,I have the D6000 and 3D content can be played form the USB port.Just make sure you download SBS content.Enjoy

Hi Mate,

Many thanks - sorry - please can you elaborate - what is SBS content.

Sorry mate - another question - what is half sbs??

Sorry mate - another question - what is half sbs??

SBS means "side by side" - both the left and right eye images are contained in the video side by side. If you watch it on an ordinary screen you will see 2 images, on on the left and one on the right.

Top bottom - same idea as side by side except that one image is at the top of the screen and the other is at the bottom.

half means that in order to accommodate 2 images within a 1080P video, you get half the resolution dedicated to the left and right video, or half dedicated to the top and bottom depending on which type you're watching.

3D tv's can interpret these videos and figure out which half to show to which eye, so you see a 3d image.

There is also FULL SBS which allows you to get 2 1080P videos next to each other in a frame, but I think most TV's and media players can't process such a large resolution

Thanks mate - that's very helpful. Does it actually work that when you watch it on a 3D TV it "merges" the images? Sorry i am brand new to this 3D Stuff... Do you have to change any settings on the TV to watch? What 3D TV do you have?

Hi Pheonix, R8,000 at Dion Wired... how much did you pay?
Are you enjoying it - what are the main features you enjoy?

40 inch...

I have th 46inch, it was pricey, nearly double your price :( but I am happy, as HIFI is advertising the same TV as I have, for R20K. Which is a total joke.

It is a bit much, but I am totally loving the TV.

The TV with XMBC is a dream!

Cool - ye, think I was just lucky, phoned on Monday and they said they had three to clear at R8000 (+R659) for an additional 3 year guarantee...

You need to go to Menu on your remote ,enter into picture settings and then browse down to 3D.Select the appropriate setting based on your video. This means that if its "Side by Side" then select that or the other if its "top and bottom".Don't forget to switch your glasses on before you do this .Once your glasses connect it will display a confirmation on the screen.

I agree.Manage to get my 46inch D6000 with glasses and Shrek set for R10 999 from the audio and visual convention in Sandton. After a month i got it replaced since it was a defective batch but loving mine since. It is really breathtaking when you play full 1080p movies.Even though it is a 3D TV, i'm still not convinced.I feel that 3D at home has still got a long way to go.I cant watch more than half the movie without having an irritation.Having said that ,this TV is awesome compared to other leading brands !Also comes with a 3yr warranty .It will take you some time to get the correct picture setting but it will be well worth it !

Yes it actually works, and looks better than 3D in the cinema.

I have the LG 47LW4500.
It's a 47 inch Cinema 3D TV (uses the same glasses from the cinema)

To watch SBS 3D I just start playing the movie and press the 3D button on my remote then choose side by side from the on screen menu. It also converts 2D video to 3D, which looks ok, but having a proper 3D movie looks much better.

Thanks for your reply Mouse. Have u ever tried the active 3d tvs such as the samsung? U need the active battery operated glasses on the samsung. Intereted in your opinion of active vs passive.

Or, as mentioned above, just hit the 3D button on the Samsung's remote.

If you want a truly seamless experience run Plex. If the Plex for Samsung client detects the words h-sbs or half-sbs in the filename, it automatically switches the TV in (& out) of SBS 3D mode.

Once you've edited the filenames of all your 3D files, its completely automatic with no manual intervention needed (just like Bluray 3D).
