Or, as mentioned above, just hit the 3D button on the Samsung's remote.

If you want a truly seamless experience run Plex. If the Plex for Samsung client detects the words h-sbs or half-sbs in the filename, it automatically switches the TV in (& out) of SBS 3D mode.

Once you've edited the filenames of all your 3D files, its completely automatic with no manual intervention needed (just like Bluray 3D).

Not officially, as in available via the Apps store. You need to load it in developer mode, see relevant section on the Plex forums site.

According to the developer, the next version is in QA with Samsung, to be release officially via the Apps store.

Thanks for your reply Mouse. Have u ever tried the active 3d tvs such as the samsung? U need the active battery operated glasses on the samsung. Intereted in your opinion of active vs passive.

Yes I've spent a lot of time looking into it before I chose passive. I've read up about the different types of screen tech, and even looked at active and passive TV's sitting side by side with the same content showing on them to get a good comparison.

From what I've read, IPS displays are better (that's what LG manufacturers)
The LG passive that I bought looked better than older active LG's, and better than Sony and Samsung active 3D as well.

I also didn't like the idea of having to pay up to R1500 for 3D glasses, and especially didn't like the idea of charging them to use them.
I also wondered, what happens when the manufacturers stop making the glasses and/or change the way they design the glasses so that they are no longer compatible with the TV I might have bought last year?

Good point mouse... Dionwired have reduced the glasses price to R50 per pair - so at least not too expensive any more.

I couldn't see any significant difference in the 3D quality between them, but the LG screen did appear brighter.

Brightness of the 3D picture is dependant on the settings. Not difficult to equalise the 3D brightness to match that of 2D.

On Samsung TVs (assume most other as well), 3D mode has its own independant setting so you can tune 2D & 3D to optimal without them interfering with each other.
