okay, i've made a couple threads about this problem before, none so far have halped me, this might be as i thought it was a problem with a specific game. but now it's any 3d game. what happens is:

1) my monitor goes into power saving mode
2) i get these lines up and down my screen (http://img15.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image004u.jpg)
3) my PC just resets (hasnt happened since reformat though)

PC speccs:
ATI radeon 4870 HD
3.0 GHT Duo
2GB ram
LG 19" monitor
500 W power supply.

okay so originally i was told it was my power supply ( i had a 300W) so i replaced it with a 500W and still the same problem. Someone told me it might be a driver problem, so i reformatted still same problem. i have set my refresh rate to 60 on Control Panel, ATI control panel, desktop settings, 3d settings every possible setting is on refresh rate 60... but still i get the same problem. a computer technician says either bios or the memory on my Graphics card... what is the problem pls help

Have you tried re-seating the graphics card in its slot? I had similar symptoms and that turned out to be the problem.

no i havent,,, im gonna do that right now and C what happens

tried reseating it, didnt make a difference still the same problem.
i have had 2 motherboards since this problem... so it cant be that... is their a way to fix the RAM on the graphics card, i heard something about clipping the memory off or something... he said there'd be 2 memory chips, i must clip one off, and see if it works, if not, try the other one,,, anybody know of this?

took my graphics card in, guy told me he tested it with crysis, far cry... and it played it like a charm, since then (5 days ago) it was playing everything, now today there's problems again, i have had my motherboard replaced like a month or so ago,,, had problems before and after

hmmm

sounds like one of those really annoying problems... I've been in your shoes, I know how you feel.

Come on lets see if we can help you.

Firstly, does this only happen when you playing games? (ie. when your PC is under load)

Secondly, download Prime95 and run a stress test and see if your PC does the same thing.

Best bet is to eliminate one component at a time...

did you try another monitor ?

like HTC says, eliminate and test.

This might be a stupid suggestion, but have you tried using a different monitor?

EDIT: Sorry Keeper, looks like we both had the same idea at the same time :D
