3D printing will require new laws

Rubbish, there's nothing existing legislation can't cover. It's illegal to manufacture any weapon capable of firing a bullet, whether you do it by hand or using a 3D printer. There's no need for extra legislation.

Can't wait to print my first Clock!! Hurry up technology

This seems like some really old news. These same concerns were raised more than a year ago (might even be 2 years ago).

Why would a criminal go through the trouble of printing a gun when he can get one on the corner or tavern for the price of a couple of beers?

Prob since the printed ones aren't traceable at all. Sure buying a gun on the street is prob also going to be next to impossible to link to you, but with a printed one you could probably shoot and then just melt the evidence or something.

I do think there are some concerns with the printed guns, but I doubt that too many people will be making them. After all, if you don't know what you are doing, then I think its quite easy for that printed gun to blow your hand off.

Why can't you melt a regular gun? Plastic and steel has a melting point last time i checked. The main concern is probably that metal detectors can't detect it. But bullets can be detected so what is a gun without bullets? But really why bother there are already easier ways available to criminals.

Think its a lot easier to melt a plastic gun than to try and melt a metal one, but anyway.

I agree with you. There are definitely easier ways to go about doing things for criminals.

+1

lol, can't wait till 3d printers = physical copies of anything you want or can imagine.

Stupid, next we'll require legislation for children's drawings.

So you think a plastic bullet cant kill? give it enough momentum and it will kill

Plastic bullet won't be so easy to manufacture. Really anybody who has the skill to do it properly won't need a plastic printer in any case to do it.
