I have an LG 3D TV and can't really complain, its a fantastic piece of technology and completely worth it, I would choose the LG mainly because the glasses are cheaper as well as don't require charging. They are both big name brands as well which suits your needs perfectly.

Also got the LG 42" 3D LED recently. Very pleased with the buy, a quality TV. And the light, flicker-free 3D glasses is a big bonus.

+1 for the LG Cinema 3D TV's.
I have a 47" LG and its awesome. Just the other day I had 7 people watching a movie in 3D and had enough glasses to go around, since they're so cheap and easily available (R5 at the cinemas)

Anyone know how much the 55" LG cinema 3d goes for

I'd rather go for the Samsung since it will give you actual 1080p HD 3D, not half-res like the passive tech from LG. Although it also depends what other stuff you want to use with it, for example if you have an LG Blu-ray player, the HDMI-CEC functions might not work properly with other brands (if that's important to you).

just bough the UA46ES6200 for 10799 from game (price beat) - got a free 3d bd player, 6 pairs of glasses and 3 3d bd titles as well.

decent option

Thanks for the tips guys. I ended up going with the 47" LG Cinema 3D. Amazing set, and it came with a free 3D Camcorder and 6 pairs of 3D glasses so I am pretty pumped! Beats the hell out of my old Sinotec :D

OP you should PM Roman404 (I think that's his nick) or PostmanPat to help you out. They're the resident experts. Beware though, they hat each other so don't play the one up against the other :D

edit: oops, I see I had the tab open for a while before I replied and you beat me. Anyway, you know who to talk to if you need advice now

I love Roman.

All I have to add is that TJ99 is wrong, LG Cinema 3D is now Full HD certified...

I Got some tax back this year :) YaY ... So i bought this http://www.lg.com/za/tv-audio-video/television/LG-3d-tv-47LM5800.jsp last sunday at Makro for R11,999.00 (was same price at Game & HiFi Corp).

Just another quick note.... I Opted for the Passive 3D vs the Active 3D because I already wear glasses and I have a set of clip-ons for passive 3D (came with my 3D LED Monitor).

Is it possible to buy just the clips ons if you needed to replace them? (I know some people with glasses that would like to have clip ons for 3D)

I reckon I actually got a great deal. Bought the 47LM6710 for R12900 from Dion Wired. To me and my taste, I think this has to be the sexiest TV I have seen. And the free camcorder and 6 pairs of glasses just sweetened the deal!
