Hi All

I am looking to buy a 40" smart tv at the moment, the biggest it can be is 40" as it is for my room and that's the only space available on my wall.

Does not have to be top of the range, I have a 4K LG tv in my lounge for gaming etc. This is purely for streaming netflix etc in the room.

So far I have narrowed it down to the below models:

Skyworth 40E6:

Sinotech STL-40E2AM:
https://www.makro.co.za/electronics-and-gaming/sinotec-/br-102-cm-40-smart-full-hd-led-tv-369874EA

Both of them I can get for R3999.

I am not familiar with these brands so was hoping someone could suggest which one?

The Sinotech comes with a 5 year guarentee and the skyworth with a 3year guarentee.

I am leaning towards the skyworth since it is Android?

Thank you.

Skyworth is Sinotecs more fancy brand so they probably more then likely the same TV tbh ;-)

The fact that it has Android TV I would take the Skyworth.
Also Skyworth owns Sinotec.

Thnanks for the replies, going to have a look at the skyworth tomorrow.

Hi Rob, my parents bought that skyworth last week and it's NOT certified. Netflix and DStv now does not work on it. Surprisingly I could still get showmax to work

Is there perhaps a hisense within that price range? One of the smart ones, cause netflix and showmax will work on that.

My skyworth android box works perfectly with dstv now and showmax..only netflix doesnt work..however the skyworth rep says the problem is on netflix side..something to do with.licensing..why dont u buy a non smart tv with.an.android box(just make sure its google certified..skyworth is:))

Personally I would go for a tv without the "smart" bit and rather get a good Android media player.
I have a 5 series smart samsung..and have no probs with dstv now..netflix and showmax..all work like a charm:)

Thanks! dodged a bullet there... I am going to take a look at the sonitec tomorrow, will make sure to tell them I will return it if Netflix does not work.
