"3G and EDGE enabled" tower ID's

I see the Webersvallei tower (Stellenbosch area) now shows the above ID.
Will this be done for all towers?

Does anyone know how to get the cellid of the tower you are conected to when using the vmc crashboard?

Is there any other ways to request the 3g / edge status from a tower
I finally figured how to turn on the cell info display on my Motorola V550, but it has never shows anything more than the tower name even in area's that I know are supposed to be 3G enabled...

I know you can use -> at+cscb=0,"900"
this should enable CB on channel 900 the only thing is i am not sure how to display the output
