Is there anyway to force Mandriva to change the DNS server you get assigned by Vodacom when you connect?

The reason I ask is occasionally I don't seem to get a DNS server, but I do get an IP. At first I thought it wasn't connecting to the internet, but upon further investigation, I discovered I could connect to the WWW if I knew the IP address.

I did contenplate phoning Vodacom, but then my eye started twitching and I got this strange throbbing pain in my head, so I decided not to.

@ Mr sn3rd: You sir, are a genius.

Of course I have no idea why this happens.... but yeah between linux/3G I seem to lose internet connectivity. If I ping an internet IP address, it works. If I ping a DNS name it fails. So I updated my resolv.conf with 168.210.2.2 (an old IS DNS server from back in the day) and magically the internet, SHE CAME BACK.

Thanks sn3rd. :D

'm having a similar, sort of, issue. Just discovered it in ubuntu intrepid. I tried to change dns servers in resolv.conf but when I connect, network manager seems to use the default servers for cellc. It also replaces resolv.conf with the default servers.

@NeoAtlas: Yeah if I disconnect and reconnect, mine does that too. But I don't get disconnect too often, it was just the weird DNS problem. If I find out how to change it permanently, will let you know.
