3G coverage!

I live in plumstead (cassino rd) to be exact and checked on the coverage map to see if i have HSDPA. Sadly no so i have some questions.

1. Anyone know when 3G will be covering this particular area as it only shows as GPRS/GSM
2. On the map, the next 3G covered area is less than 300M (royal cape) from me (according to the map). Can i pick up 3G if i have an indoor antennae connected.
3. Does my sim have to be 3G activated before the card can pick up the signal?

1. Email vodacom customer care at [email protected] and give them your exact street address, and also the tower name that is displayed on your phones' screen. They will then be able to tell you if that specific tower will be upgraded for 3g and hsdpa, and more or less when. They told me a while ago when I will have 3G.

3. I was told that you don't need extra settings or anything. Your mobile, or modem will automatically pick up the 3G signal if it's there.

What could probably work is an external antenna. It gives a massive boost in signal, around 15dB.
