I am on the Mygig2 contract (2 gig daytime+2 gig NightOwl)of Vodacom.

I usually use 2 methods of checking my Data Balance:*111# service and sending an SMS:MM to 31050.

Lately its seems that the data balance stays the same even if I use some of the data.

How am I suppose to keep track of my usage so that I do not go over my monthly data cap if

I keep getting inaccurate "readings"?

To say that I am angry is putting it mildly.

I would like a response for an Vodacom representative.

Sounds like a delay in their systems.

What about the other two methods, which you can do from any computer, tablet or phone?

1. Download the Vodacom APP from Andriod, BlackBerry or iPhone and log in to check your balance.

2. Visit the Vodacom website and login there to check your balance.

I am going to guess that they might be the same balances, but try and see if they are different.

Very true hey.

Just wondering, do any of the other operators have true "real-time" reflections of data usage? Or is it only Vodacom that is delayed?

CellC, MTN, 8ta, iBurst ?

CellC, I am told they do. MTN, yes. 8ta, yes. iBurst - who uses iBurst in this day and age? :p

There will always be a delay on the postpaid offering , prepaid is supposed to be accurate.

You can also use the DNES service.

Send the letters DNESON (email address) to 123. You will then receive an email to your chosen address with the bundle balance every morning around 8:30am

You can't compare post-paid Vodacom with pre-paid Cell-C, MTN and 8ta.

I happen to use iBurst and the usage is also only calculated every couple of hours.
With iBurst there is no OOB-shark, you get capped as soon as your data runs out, but you can still make VOIP calls and send and receive email through their mail servers (at no charge).
