3G Fail over Telkom & Voice Package

Hi Guys

So today I changed my package to the R799 do elite package I think it is. So the 20mbps and 50GB data bundle.

2 questions on this.

I still have my Afrihost data which I will continue to use, unless I hit a snag and then switch over to the integrated data sim. question: do I just plug in modem into router with SIM, and I'm good to go, or is there some configuration within the router to do?

2nd question.

I have the weekender calls option before the upgrade, Ie free calls Friday to Sunday. Does this just continue on my account? Or do I have to pay something extra over and above the R799?

How did you manage to get an integrated data sim? I presume this is from Telkom

Yes from Telkom. Went into the store and asked for one. They then asked for my tel number and linked it to the SIM. You don't have to get an sms, you can just ask for it.

No sh*t!!!!! And how is it working for you? Which store did you go to
 
Working well, but I'm mostly using it as a back up to my Afrihost account. So if something goes bad, I'll switch. Telkom store in Cape Town, close to the train station, strand street. I'm on my phone so I take it you from Cape Town?
 
Yep, I know the store well. Its just around the corner from me. I'll pop in later today. Are there any configurations that need to be done
 
What router do you have? I had to change inside the router APN to I think Telkom under something umts or whatever it was called
 
Btw I know somebody that was in there yesterday, and they had issues with their system. So he has to go back in today to get it. . So maybe just give them a shout 1st to check
 
I have a Telkom issue d-link 2750u router. But i want to put the sim in my tablet, so that I can use the adsl data when I am not at home to connect to the router
 
I have not tried that, so I'm not sure if that will work or not. Best is to check in with them, otherwise I will check tonight for you

you have to change connection settings in your router from "always connected to adsl" to "always connected to adsl but if adsl fail connect to 3g"

the integrated sim should work okay with your tablet. Change the APN to TelkomInternet, and you have your DSL data to be used on the go. I tested last night and it worked just fine
 
Thanks, I have been to Telkom earlier, but their system was offline. Will go later
