think its due to fluctuating signal quality. Could be that the tower your connecting to is congested too maybe.
If your signal quality was good , it would connect at HSDPA all the time. If the signal quality drops it goes to 3G. and even worse it will go to EDGE or as low as GPRS.
If your internet stops as a whole. It could be that your internet simply timed-out. Maybe due to the HSDPA dropping your physically and going to 3G rather. Sometimes there's a delay inbetween, or sometimes it totally drops you. Giving you no internet access at all. Untill you do a modem reset, or just unplug the USB and plug it back in.
Dunno if you can do a software reset, if u can. Try that rather :>
Also , your entire area can have 3G or HSDPA coverage. But it all depends on your physical location, and all the obstacles inbetween you and the Tower you connect to. I've seen people having trouble due to electrical wiring in a wall (giving them poor signal) They just moved the laptop to another room, and it worked 100% , no more ping timeouts etc. :>
Check your ping times. thats the best way to know if your signal quality and strength is good.
Start-> Run -> Type in CMD *Black dos box will popup*
In that dosbox. Type in, Ping karoo.mweb.co.za -t *it will then start pinging the karoo gaming server, wich is very stable*
Let it run for a few minutes. Check the Pingtimes. 100ms or 150ms etc. (lower pings are better,High pings are bad, Ping timeouts are very bad)
Then move the Modem or laptop around and check where you get the lowest ping times, also check that you don't get alot of ping-timeouts.
Timeouts means it could not ping that Server at all (signal loss etc.etc. very bad)
Do remember that most wireless connections get timeouts every now and then, could be the tower or sometimes the weather, or obstacles etc.etc
So if you see a timeout every 1min or 2. Don't get worried thats fine. Just not every 5-10seconds.
Simply Press COntrol+C to cancel the pinging process. or the Red X
Hope this helps :>
