Hi,

Anyone else battling with 3G coverage in Pta east ?

Haven't been able to get 3G connection for since yesterday. Connection working at 36k.

Phoned the 155 number, but was told that "it it was down, they would have been flooded with complaints:confused: ".

Something wrong with my phone ?

No 3G in Midstream estates, very crappy GPRS (took ages to load this page) and no SMTP (had to send another urgent email to my client).

As to the SMTP issue. I am currently waiting for a web mail page to open. Been waiting for 15 minutes. My email is more than 30 minutes late. This is R42 000 per month client. If I lose this client I will sue Vodacom.

My GPRS is so slow that my web mail times out.

My problem is that all the people are already in the meeting, cellphones off, working on their laptops waiting for my mail. I am just a no-show. Spent friggen hours generating the data and now I can't email it.

To rush off to an internet cafe or something will be useless now.

Why does this always happen in crisis times. This system is NOT dependable.

Thank you Vodacom. I hope to reward you one day for this, many times over.

A very unhappy client

VMS and others, please let me know if the service is still slow. If you're battling, please note your IP address and PM me with the details:

- Location
- IP address
- Performance problem

Then, please disconnect and reconnect and see if you get an IP in a different range. Then check if performance improved.

VMS, I get full 3G reception in my main bedroom and patio ... normal 2G is a different story!

GPRS is a bit faster now. Haven't checked 3G yet. Sent my first email, of the day, about 60 seconds ago. Haven't touch anything. Just 'improved' by itself.

Will monitor...

But this is nowhere as bad as MTN. Got my itemized billing for mid Oct to Mid Nov. My 6680 showed 10MB on its counter. I use it with IM+ and an occational web page. They tuned me I have used R90 @ R2/mb. The itemized billing shows a stretch of 48MB downloaded in one go (while I was snoozing in bed). Not Autopage nor MTN wanted to help me. The lady from Autopage got bitchy with me and told me that I need to provide proof !!! I sometimes have problems reaching 30MB per month by just using emails and chatting on MSN. 45MB while I sleep, now that is novel.

I want this prepaid thing now. Want to get out of these blasted contracts. More control, less bitches to talk to.

Details as requested:

- Location South Western Cape
- 10.53.125.***
- Very slow browsing, e-mail, and downloads (around 5kbps on 3G)

Disconnected a couple of times, and still get a 10.53.125 address

-Location Midstream Estates, between Midrand & Irene
- 10.50.57.
- Slow, Disconnects, no 3G

Restarted. Attempted 3G.Got error 633 :-( 2 bars with blue LED flashing though.

Back to GPRS

- New IP 10.49.134

Good old slow GPRS. Downloads pages fairly OK and I could send myself an email.

Posting this before trying 3G again

This time I could connect via 3G :-)

- new IP 10.51.200

Not blindingly fast but faster than GPRS.

No problem with the IP. When the new addresses were made available a few days ago there was a problem with routing but this was resolved. I believe it only affected some of the coastal regions.

My dash crashed about an hour ago. Bitched about the SIM, PIN and an error code. But I am still going strong. Full speed 3G :-)

Anybody else had something like this happen? It is like a crash, but without the bang.
