Easy question:

can one achieve proper 3g speeds with

-laptop->bluetooth usb adapter->3g phone nokia 6280
or even
-laptop->cable->3g phone nokia 6280

obviously the data option must be enabled on the sim.

also
which "accesspoint" does one use?
-vodacom
-vodafone live!
-vodafone live! + mms

i don't want 2 fork out 2 grand for a 3g/hsdpa card...just want to do it this way - IF this is possible @ all.

Yes it is possible. I connect my 6680 to my Macbook Pro via Bluetooth ... and with 100% signal, I sometimes burst over 384kb/s

The access point will be either internet or internetvpn

The 'vodacom' one. It's actually just a name for a set of settings. The apn will be internet.
Hi V3G my phone has the following apns:

1. Vlive!MMS
2. Vlive!
3. Vodacom

I'm currently using the "Vlive!" one, what would be the difference if I were to use "Vodacom"?

In theory, not, but I'd give it a try.

The VLive apn typically goes through a proxy while the internet apn (Vodacom) connect directly to the WEB. So if you have a modern phone try the internet apn and see how it goes. You might not get to the VLive portal, but I'm not 100% sure of this.

Most new phones can be set to use a specific apn per URL. Set it to Vlive for the VLive portal and internet for anything else.
