Hi

Which 3G router (like the Huawei B970/B970b) will work with 8ta?

The B970 won't work for us as it doesn't allow PPTP VPN passthrough.

We need PPTP VPN passthrough, but if the router supports PPTP VPN (or openVPN) on the device itself, then that'll be a big plus.

It'll also need to do dynamic DNS (dyndns.org) hostnames for obvious reasons.

Regards

Please note that the router MUST have an external connection for an aerial - a normal USB stick just won't cut it here. I've tried, and it doesn't work. (poynting inductive coupler). It MUST be connected directly to the aerial for things to work.

.

I use B970b (which i bought from vodaworld last week) for 8ta 2+1 gig promo and its working perfectly....

PPTP VPN passthrough? Does it work on yours?

It does support port forwarding as well as dynamic dns so it should work for a vpn..

I haven't physically seen the router so I'm not sure it it has an external antenna connector.. I've done about 2 remote setup's on that router.

I've tried the B970 and the B970b routers - and with both I cannot access PPTP VPN services. The router does not allow GRE protocol 47 to go through.

Another option we've got is the Huawei E367 router - but with which USB router will it be compatible?

I don't want to stick it into a workstation.

Have a loot @ the Dlink HSUPA 3G VPN Router - DWR-555

Hi guys

Does anyone know the 8ta setup for the D-link DWR 555 3G router .... It worked perfectly with Vodacom, however the 8ta setting are not quite, let's say 'working'?!!

Most appreciated

Heyup

Settings I've used for the router :

Profile name : 8ta
APN : internet
Number : *99#

I just set up a new profile with the above settings, and it worked for me straightaway.

I've got a D-Link DIR451 and it seems that I'm going to have some problems connecting... Got my 8ta yesterday and it seems that the router does not support them as service provider option? I'm puzzled...

FYI, I'm not getting a connection even if I slot the modem straight into USB... Just more "SIM Not Recognized" errors... :-(
