Hi guys

Anyone with ideas as to how the following might be possible...

Can the 3G router accept incoming calls to create a type of VPN connection?
We basically have a 3G router plugged into a network and need to connect via the VPN server behind the 3G router.

You'll need to configure it with the unrestricted APN, I suspect.

PM me the data number and I'll see what I can do.

If you're going to leave this connection open all the time, ensure you've got it tightly firewalled!

Ok so a bit more detail:

Can the router act as a VPN server of sorts?
We would want to connect from the internet via the router to a Server on the LAN that the router is connected to.
In other words we would be connecting into and not from the Router.

I suspect we would have to place a VPN server behind the router at the very least to allow VPN connections into the server via the 3G router?

I tend to agree, as far as I know the router can pass a VPN but not terminate one.

Biometrix can maybe comment, I know he played with this quite extensively.

Ok thanks for the help guys, at least I can now tell them it REALLY won't work! :p

Hey all,
I'm digging this one up from the grave! I've been wanting to setup a VPN service for a client using ADSL and a netgear VPN router. Unfortunately, there is no ADSL in the area, and so the other alternative looks to be 3G/HSDPA.

Is it possible to connect a 3G router in bridged mode to a netgear VPN router, and have the netgear establish/manage the connection (and this allow VPN connections)?

Regards,
Nick
