I am looking for a datacard where I can do the following over the 3G network from a laptop or PC, using the datacard
- voice calls
- Video calls (over the 3g network)
- Content downloading
- GPRS
- SMS
- MMS
- Be able to record calls

Does anyone know if Vodacom or one of the other providers offers such a datacard ?

NO NO NO

Boet ,

DO us a favour and only post the same stuff once in ONE place

As to your question -- do some searching on this forum

THEN you will discover the answer

NO NO NO -- unless things have changed in the mean time

It SHOULD be possible -- I mean any old cellphone does this -- now you have a whole COMPUTER behind the data card

WHY

Ask the "networks" -- NOT here -- you will NOT get an answer

Nearly all (if not all) datacards support these functions but what you are actually after is the PC software to deliver this.

Strange Days

No idea. Google is your friend.
I use a product called NowSMS to do my SMS and MMS and a 3rd party app to do video and voice calling. But it looks like the vendor disappeared.
Well SMS is not really a problem as you can do that anyway with the software supplied.

One would have thought that having the full capability would be hugely popular and an additional selling point

So I keep on asking myself WHY VC do not have their OWN set of apps and why multi-million VC advertising is not flighting this every night on SABC

Would it perhaps have something to do with NOT wanting to take sales away from those little hand held devices that some people love so much

Video conferencing == Built in WebCam / Internet / SKYPE

Images and rich content MMS == EMail

Voice == Just use your mobile

There appears to be some conflict / overlap between what one does purely "on-the-network" and what one does out on the Internet.

Something like "Local" and "International"

Perhaps some one can enlighten me
