I stay in a suburb of Vereeniging where 3G signal strength is almost non-existant. The 3G icon only lasts a few seconds and then dissapears again.

After much correspondence with Vodacom, it seems the network department will be sending out a team to investigate my area. When this will happen is the million dollar question. But at least they seem to be trying.

For now, I'll continue using my pay-as-u-go MTN Edge SIM.

I really hope the okes get it sorted - seen 3G in action and it's awesome!

Just 2 questions....how does one know if you're picking up 3G and when you're picking up 3G HSDPA?
And, is there a difference speed wise using my cell (N73) or any other type of card to connect to the net?

Cheers!

All 3G towers are HSDPA enabled, so you should get the higher speed. Best wat to check actual speed is on http://speed.vodacom.co.za.

Phones/modems will give the same speed, but one might have a slightly better antenna than the other.

Vodacom actually cares

After months of phoning Vodacom and complaining (even whining) about the 3G reception in my area, they eventually responded and sent out a great team of guys who installed a Yagi antenna at my home. What a huge improvement!

Thank you Shane, Peter and Sergeant who made it happen.

Cheers!

I'm happy for you... but your topic title makes you sound like you're on drugs.

Say what you want to say don't hide behind peculiar words.

Give credit where credit is due.

@xrapidx (I'm happy for you... but your topic title makes you sound like you're on drugs.) Now that wasn't very nice.

? You need a sense of humour.

Com'on snoopy. Now read the bold. He must be on a mind altering substance (prescribed or otherwise). He's been paying for sh*tty service for months. Suddenly, (after months) when he gets only what he' should have been getting for "months", he gets all warm and fuzzy for VC and now they're the best thing since sliced bread!

Drugs I say. Drugs! :D

(Now laugh a little. :))

In all seriousness, surely all that this demonstrates is that they care about stopping you whining, unless long term they plan on upgrading the 3g mast or whatever u call it. And even then, what they really care about is profit :D
