See if there is a way to insert a delay before reconnecting, you probably have to wait for the modem to initialize.

the software I'm using has no such provision for delay, it is VMB-10.1.0.25677RC6 thnks for the response

Look at the properties of the dial-up networking connection created by VMB.
There you can change the time between redial attempts.

I've tried that already. What's funny is that the same modem seems to be working fine on a Lenovo with Windows 7 platform, do you think the difference in OS can be that significant, or maybe the Hardware difference???? i tried using a lower version vmb software too, still no luck.

thanks

Problem solved

under registry edit, the VMB dashboard executable had a silent command, just modify and remove that "\silent", works like a charm.

over and out

thanks for the input everybody :D
