Hello & Good morning all,

Just a quick question, I have read the FAQ and scanned the forum, and cant find anything.. (yet)

I have a sony ericsson K810i cellphone which is 3G capable.

I also have the vodacom prepaid 3G data bundle - (Specifically for internet)

Can I use the phone as a 3G modem... (Currently, when I install the Vodacom software, the dashboard shows available network as Vodacom 3G, with no signal, when I click connect, it connects and then changes to Vodacom GPRS)

I have tried all the settings, as the phone also has an option where you can select USB internet, that if you connect it to a PC, the PC picks up the connection as Local Area Network... it gets connected, but yet the speed seems slow. (GPRS maybe)

My Dashboard has confirmed that I have used 45Mb of 3G & 400kb or GPRS

I know its faster than this as I have seen it.

Does anyone know the magic setup (or ritual dance) to get it connected/setup or can it be done 'off the bat' so its 3G & not GPRS?

My signal in my area is the strongest (I have the highest coverage rate)

See if you can set your phone to 3G Only or UMTS Only, that should force a 3G connection even if the GSM/GPRS signal is stronger.

Is 3G on? Its the 3blue circles next to your signal indicator.

3g

3G is on & very prominant.. ie, it has the 3 blue circles displayed permanently next to the signal indicator.

I am still googling...
