Guys I really need a new external and on takealot there are two hard drives

WesternDigital

or

Seagate

ATM I have a 5 year old 1tb seagate and it has never let me down as a external so, I will rather buy seagate. Also the price between a usb2 3tb vs usb 3 3tb is so small rather fork that 100 rand more out for the usb 3

EDIT: seems seagate only had one year warranty on it

USB3. In an external FREECOM 2.5 inch I get 30MB/sec on USB 2 and 55MB/sec on USB 3. It's of course a slower drive because it is 5400RPM.

Both of those are good in my opinion.

Most definitely go for the USB 3, makes a MASSIVE difference (if you've got USB 3 ports).

I am really thinking of going with the western, the backup software is nice and u get better warranty

Dionwired have the Verbatim 3TB 3.5" USB3, 2year warranty for R1500 until 24Dec

Seagate has changed in the past 5 years, but nevertheless never had hassle from a seagate - only from WDs

Never had, but you will... Warranty cuts should be a warning sign.
