I am highly disappointed in apple at this point. Had my iPhone for 6 days now, upgraded to iOS 4.1 this morning. Everything was running smooth on 4.02, now, all of a sudden, my accelerometer does not work well (photos refuse to switch orientation when tilting phone), and my proximity sensor has been damned too!!!!!! It worked fine on 4.02. 4.1 was supposed to fix those issues for some users, not introduce them!!!!!! Luckily I stored my shsh blobs with tiny umbrella, but I will not have access to a pc till Sunday (getting married tomorrow). And I want to take HDR to Mauritius! WTF Apple???????

I haven't upgraded yet, waiting for the jailbreak.

Get AutoHDR or Pro HDR from the AppStore, it's apparently better than the built in HDR in 4.1.

Yea, mine came on 4.0.2, so couldn't jailbreak anyways. Oh well, will downgrade tomorrow when I get home and have a look at those apps. It's still very frustrating though.
Thanks for the advice! Will attempt tomorrow hopefully! See there are many other users with the samen probs. Apparently it helps doing a fresh restore / wiping all settins etc.

Congratulations on getting married!

*Bugger the iPhone, get yourself a good camera.

maybe reflash? mine went smooth, none of the issues you describe - that said, I did go straight from 4.0.1 to 4.1 (skipped the whole 4.0.2 let's disable the pdf exploit fix). BTW also iPhone 4

Thanks for that tip, I was a little peeved when HDR was not included on the 3GS but now I have it and it actually works.

No problem :) They are great apps really!

Love my photography folder :) Other essentials are

- Color Splash (Selective colouring - definitely my favorite app by far)
- Camera+ (post-photo editing. Some really cool effects you can use on photos you take or ones from your library)
- VideoPano (Panorama by just taking a video! Impressive stuff)

And that's all I can think of for now :)

I like the Photoshop Express app to retouch my pics.

Clearly I was unable to get to the blog. Thanks a lot to all of you guys! I will try a fresh restore now, after packing my bags. Will keep you up to date!

When is Vodacom/ MTN going to start supporting the iPhone 4?
Didn't they say something about September?

What are you guys using to unlock/ jb?

They already "support" the iPhone 4, they just don't have it. October looks like it. Still in very short supply globally.

Jailbreak iOS 3.x and 4.0, 4.0.1 : Jailbreakme.com
Unlock iOS 3.x and 4.0, 4.0.1: ultrasn0w.

No Unlock/jailbreak for iOS 4.0.2 and 4.1. There are probably ones forthcoming though, soon.

Ty Synaesthesia,

I usuallt keep an eye on http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ (the dev team blog). The latest stufs usually come out here at them first. For now, I'll just have to wait as the baseband is up'd as well and this is not really reversible.

Ok I managed to get my phone sorted. Did a restore to 4.1, restored my backup and all appears good. I will be back in a week. Let's hope for a jailbreak before I return

Cheers!

Cool, enjoy your trip to Mauritius, and remember....you need to barter for everything there, from taxi cabs to the local store selling t-shirts - everything is negotiable in price.
