4.2 update problems

Guys i need help please.
Got the phone yesterday and itunes seem to have a problem with the update(4.2)
Have tried 3 pc's and all the same.
Also tried the link in thread on 4.2 update,nothing works as itunes say wrong version for phone.
Phones istores in Sandton and was told there is a problem with itunes updates.
They can update for me,but going all the way for that seems a waste.

what iphone version do you have?

if it's an iphone 4, dl the firmware here: http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4/061-9858.20101122.Er456/iPhone3,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw

go to itunes, when it asks you to update the firmare, hold in shift while you click on update. then browse to the downloaded file.

I should add that upgrading the firmware right now is not necessarily a great idea, as tethered jailbreak is uncomfortable, and that is currently the only jailbreak option available for the new firmware.

had a similar problem, kept getting the message : error 1013. Trying a different pc with a 3g modem worked for me..
