Johannesburg - Four police officers were arrested in Pretoria on Tuesday morning after allegedly robbing a house.

The officers arrived at a house in Akasia, introduced themselves as police officers and demanded to search the premises, spokesperson Mack Mngomezulu said in a statement.

They took nine cellphones, three laptops and an undisclosed amount of cash.

At the time a woman was at the house visiting her boyfriend.

The officers apparently took the woman to her home in Sinoville.

On the way there they left her Mercedes-Benz at a McDonald’s outlet and continued the journey in their own cars, taking the woman with them.

Staff at the McDonald’s called police, who arrested the officers when they returned with the woman to the Mercedes.

The officers had searched the woman’s home, but found nothing.

“The police will continue to root out all the rotten potatoes within the police service,” Mngomezulu said.

Fark me. Not even giving a crap anymore.

Good afternoon ma'am. We are the police, and this is a robbery

These are some of the worst kinds of robberies imo. Not because they're violent...but they undermined public confidence in the police.

Friend had a similar case...either crook with access to inside police info and a uniform....or a real cop that is a criminal...either way said friend is not likely to trust a uniform again any time soon...

What a disgrace for the SAPS. This is really bad for SA's national and international image. Such an embarrassment.

I suspect there is something more to the story, maybe some other kind of illicit activity was taking place at the house itself, making it an easy target for the rotten Potatoes

Ftfy :D. Agree that it would appear that there is more to this than meets the eye.
