4 Meg ADSL performing like 384 Kbps

I have 2 accounts with Axxess. The one is a AxxessLite account with a 2 gig cap and the other is a JustSurf uncapped account which is limited to 384 Kbps. I use the JustSurf account most of the time for the family to browse, and switch to the AxxessLite account whenever I need to download something.

My ADSL line speed is 4096 Kpbs, but when I switch to the AxxessLite account (which used to perform at least at 3.2meg) I only get the following speed.



I also have a prepaid WebAfrica account that performs like the AxxessLite account.

Can the ISP "lock" my ADSL line at 384 Kbps because of the JustSurf account restriction ?

I had Telkom out to test the line and they switched it to new copper strains as the old line was dropping regularly. Telkom claim that the line is fine.

How the hell did you get Telkom to switch to new copper strains? I've been on their case 'cos my 4meg line only syncs at 2 & their standard answer is they've tested the line it is fine.

you could be far from the exchange so it cant sync at any faster
