Aqua come on now dude , i may be a knowitall and some what aggressive but dodgy NEVER .

Check my other post though and check the 4kb write, pretty fast. techie i never said i am judging linux on its looks, if it looked better or the same as windows and worked for me with what i need i would use it without doubt

My point was vista looked good but lost performance doing so but windows 7 look good without losing performance . Each to their own i say but just like a linux boy i will defend windows

Anyways peter keep telling yourself that every single ssd drive apart from intel have problems .

I said - as per AnandTech, the JMicron controller/Samsung FLASH drives are very SLOW with writes. Samsung drives (SSD) are not as slow with WRITES but are still slow, and Aqua dug deeper and explained that these are random, small file writes while Intel trounced everyone involved by a factor of 100.

The Samsung based SSD had a write performance of the Seagate Momentus
magnetic HDD.

Anyway folks, SSD is still not so good. Random write sucks, even if you have a Samsung drive, best is to wait till everyone gets their stuff sorted out OR spend a lot of money and buy an Intel. Don't buy anything else in the meantime if you don't wanna compromise on performance - or on money for that matter as a Seagate Momentus with random writes of small files (4K) is as slow as a Samsung.

That's all according to AnandTech. I'm open for a technical critique of AnandTech, but the matter has been also discussed on Slashdot before - a couple months ago and many IT people were in agreement with these results.

Peter please refer back to my post showing my 4k writes, go do the same test on your hdd. I bet you it will be far lower.

Can you run that bench i did with the 4k write for me and post your results.

Here is what Iometer will basically test, run your hdd with this benchmark please peter and post.

check the 4k and then test yours for me.

If you read the article you'd have noticed the part about manufacturers tweaking devices to score well with the traditional benchmarks, that is why the tester used iometer because it can simulate a real world experience.

Samsung, OCZ. etc. all know how to exploit these traditional benchmarks for high scores.

Very confusing and it looks like it is very much for cpu testing as opposed to hdd.

yep looks confusing, I think the guy had his own custom iometer app but not sure though.

Why not email the anandtech guy? and let him settle this once and for all.
