This is for all those who "hate" Vista...

I have installed Vista SP1 (X86) on a Toshiba 1.6 Celeron, with only 768mb ram. And it boots up faster now than it did with XP home. Is more responsive and is Idling at approximately 395mb ram used! Thats with Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite running, which takes at least 70-90mb ram all the time! (Will be chucking more ram in it today - maybe go to 1.5gig)
So what u say now ?!?:D

still not gonna use it. Waiting for Win7. Vista is already obsolete. Even Microsoft thinks so.

Stickytoffee i got some bad news for you linux boys :), you will not ever be able to claim linux runs faster on slower hardware from the end of the year :).

Go check out windows 7 vs ubuntu and the like :). Yikes windows 7 creams linux in the speed department :p

Well... xp had too many issues that I couldnt be bothered to solve, win7 still in beta, so I just gave vista a try, honestly didnt expect it to load... but it did!:D

Crapppp.... Imagine trying to teach my 60yr old mom how to use linux:confused::( (its her laptop)

Then my mum must be smarter than yours :D

She's quite chuffed with her Suse10.2 laptop and refuse to let me upgrade her to suse11 "cause you'll just break it"

PS... at least she doesnt need two hands to hold the mouse:D (sum of them oldies are funny to watch)

i use vista extreme edition and it is as fast as Win7 beta and there are no problems.

the whole which OS is better debate is getting stale now . . .

it's all about preference.

EVERY one is better than ALL others in SOME aspects.

let's leave it at that.

I just ran DOS on my machine and it idled at less than 1MB!

So what u say now ?!? :)

I don't have a problem with Vista performance. I just hate the dumbing down of just about everything, and the whole 'Microsoft Knows Best' experience. Let me use my computer how I want to use it.

Also, UAC is fine, its never bugged me.

You don't :) Was just trying to point out that's it's mostly preference - I personally cant use Vista ;)

agreed, point of this thread is to just prove (just a little bit) to the the guys who got sick if vista in the early days, that it is waaaaaaaaay betta these days!
