Oh yay more free data from iBurst... :D

466.64MB for every iBurst subscriber on Mandela Day iBurst encourages subscribers to use the free bandwidth to make their contribution on 18 July 2010.

Broadband provider iBurst has pledged its support for the Nelson Mandela campaign by offering every single iBurst subscriber a total of 466.64MB of bandwidth at no cost on Sunday 18 July 2010.

“This day is a call to action for people to do something to make the world a
better place, one small step at a time. Internet connectivity continues to
be a massive hurdle for us as a nation to compete globally and while iBurst
cannot single handedly solve this for South Africa – we can take the one
small step which is to provide some free bandwidth to our customers,” says
iBurst CEO, Thami Mtshali.

“Our hope is that our subscribers will use this bandwidth to make their own
contribution. Mandela Day is about many small actions that together will make
a big difference and if there is one thing the Internet is good for, it’s
combining the weight of many single voices to create change,” says Mtshali.

Some suggestions for subscribers include creating an inspirational
presentation, teaching someone how to use the Internet, go to
http://www.worldwildlife.org and click on ‘Act Now’ to find out what you can
do right now to make a difference, write a new song for peace at
http://www.newsongsforpeace.org, plant a tree on www.mybabytree.org or play a game where the right answers feed the hungry www.freerice.com.

If you have any ideas of how subscribers can make a difference share it with
iBurst on Twitter by sending a message to @iBurst.

Please note, this offer does not apply to iBurst Prepaid subscribers.

What a great idea, thanks iBurst!

I'm starting to like this CEO already...:)

yay! half a crumb of crack for everybody! just kidding. thats a nice gesture. i wish "the others" would do this.

Fantastic news!

Hopefully the other ISPs come to the game!

And the mandela day site - English and spanish are language choices? LOL :D

Was excited for a sec. because of those big numbers. Rather write: "0.47GB" and that equals to nothing really for most us. Great initiative.

Will the 466.64MB bandwidth only be valid on Mandela Day, or will unused portions be available thereafter? (19 July onwards )
If so, if any remains at month end, will it be carried over into August?

The later one. You may use and carry over the balance into August.

I am very happy for all of you celebrating this generous offer. For me though, it would be far better if the customer service levels could be on par with the product, which is excellent compared to other ISP's. During my contract period which will expire in a few months' time I've had far more complaints than compliments. I would rather prefer less generosity on free bandwidth, but with a HelpDesk and Accounts Division that still care about good customer service. Having said that, I have to mention that Gcebile Rakharebe is one person who always intervened and solved my queries / issues when I didn't get a response from HelpDesk or Accounts.
