466.64MB for every iBurst subscriber!

I am very happy for all of you celebrating this generous offer. For me though, it would be far better if the customer service levels could be on par with the product, which is excellent compared to other ISP's. During my contract period which will expire in a few months' time I've had far more complaints than compliments. I would rather prefer less generosity on free bandwidth, but with a HelpDesk and Accounts Division that still care about good customer service. Having said that, I have to mention that Gcebile Rakharebe is one person who always intervened and solved my queries / issues when I didn't get a response from HelpDesk or Accounts.

I humbly apologize for your poor experience which has lead to the complaints you have lodged. The 466.64 MB given to subscribers is not meant to be an offer or some type of free bandwidth gift. It is an honest attempt to make a difference in the world with the small and limited resources we have at our disposal. There are many ways to contribute on the Internet to the ideals of Mandela Day and I encourage you to discover ways and participate.

If you have 466.64 MB of bandwidth and you use it in 67 minutes at what speed are you operating?

Seriously?! You give us some speed upgrades? Wrap for me one. Or better two. (2Mbps)

Here we go:
67min = 4020seconds.
466,64MB / 4020seconds = 0,11607960199004975124378109452736MB/s
0,11607960199004975124378109452736MB/s * 8 = 0,92863681592039800995024875621891Mbps @ virtually constant flat-rate or that average

How do you know if you got the 466.64MB, but used it up during After Hours? Is that possible?

Bingo! Take the rest of the week-end off. :-)

There is something in the pipeline for the 2 Mb/s...

The speed of 950.93 kb/s is possible on IB Wireless but it is obviously coverage dependant. Average based on aggregated speedtest.net results is 0.79 Mb/s

If you use it at night and you have a Wireless 2 (or above) then as a minmum you will have double the amount of bandwidth. The best way to view this use is with the daily email report. PM me with your UTID and email address and I'll add it for you if you don't have it already.

The 1 Mb/s towers are the same as the 2 Mb/s. Haven't forgotten, been on leave, moved office and catching up.

So, if I buy 2Mbps modem somewhere else and assign to my account, will I get 2Mbps on current network?

speedtest.net's results is mbps, so .79mbps = 95kb/s . To get 950kb/s, you need a +-7.6mbps internet connection.

Be careful were you use a lower case b and and upper case b. 950kb/s is more that possible on iBurst wireless but 950kB/s not so much.

OK. So there I was on Sunday, thinking... "Cool, let me use some of this bandwidth and stream a movie for the kids". Never having done this before (because I only have a 1Gb cap at home... shame!), I thought it would be really cool to use the PS3 to stream a movie. And since I have 466.64 of extra bandwidth, I won't use up all my cap.

But when I woke up in the morning, and tried to check my mail on my iPhone, "iburst - your cap has been reached".
So I checked my account online... there is no extra 466.64!

Nice gesture. But not so cool when it doesn't deliver.

Not always sure which one it is, that is why I use kbps and kb/s, cause speed test always uses kbps and when you download a file, it shows as kb/s. :)

Please PM me your account details and I'll verify the bucket.

BTW: A good deed would have been to show all the homeless kids in the area a movie.

You cannot go above 2x your cap from carry over (and you'll notice that you have 10240 which is exactly 2x your cap). Meaning you actually lost the other 200 odd MB from mandela day because of this rule.

You should have used more internet :P

trust me i lost alot more then the 252.41mb probably just over a gig, not too concerned about that, i just found it odd that my total usage for the first day of the month is exactly the same as what was left of the free bandwith...i just dont believ in coincednces :)
