48÷2 (9+3) argument

So there's an argument going around, think it's been arounf for a long time.
Many people say the answer is 2 others say 288... Google says 288... so is google right?.. I'm with Google on this one, it's never failed me.
 
Math priorities dictate:

1. Brackets first
2. Muliply, Divide
3. Add, Subtract
4. Left to right where operators have same precendence

So, 48/2(9+3) becomes:
48/2(12) which is same as 48/2*12
Thus rule 4 invoked means it becomes the same as (48/2)*12
And that, is 288.
