If someone said to you - choose a 4mb contract to have free for a year -

Would you take

Openweb Gold
or
Mweb

If you are a gamer then Mweb. If you are a downloader then Openweb

Hmmm I really think its time OpenWeb reviews its 4mb pricing then - mweb is known to be one of the more expensive ISPs but openweb still wants to charge R700+ for its Gold Account

Hi DrewChan,

You do not have to use the Gold Uncapped service. This is a Premium product with a low contention ratio.

Our 4Mbps Vanilla Uncapped sells for R395

The difference is, though, that the contention ratio is lower (compared to mweb) on the Gold accounts. This results in overall better "internet" experience, Ie. Surfing, downloading AND gaming.

MrBEEP beat me to it...but there you go.

I understand the concept re: Gold Membership and am happy, but even with the apparent lower contention ratio's people are opting for mweb on a 4mb account - couple that with the fact that The gold 4mb is priced R200 above them, I just don't see the draw.

Opting for mweb because everyone goes on about it. Do a search for mweb on this forum and see how many threads there are about people moaning about speed or connection. Sure there are a billion more people on mweb than openweb, but this just means that openweb needs to keep what "little" customers they have happy. As I've mentioned a billion times before, during all the mweb moaning and groaning about speed and/or downtime, I have NEVER been down. EVER. (2+ yrs) My internets is always flying.
Alas, you have to make up your own mind though. All I can tell you is what I've experienced (and how I've giggled through the endless pages of people having mweb issues). *shrug*
The extra moola is well worth it, IMO.

Good MOrning,

MWEB has a FREE 7day trial account, why don't you inbox me your details; try our product and decide for yourself ;)

Apologies I should have explained I already have a Gold Account with OpenWeb [2mb] brilliant service.

This was merely commentary that their 4mb costing doesn't fit in with mainstream pricing.

Please note I have also been with Mweb in the past and their performance was also top notch.

I will have to do some thinking re: 4-10mb options.

Appreciate all the help
