What is the best/cheapest way to get a 4MB line and an uncapped account? Rent the line from Telkom for just under R500 per month and then which provider? Uncapped and unshaped...

Openweb's 6pm-2-6am 384k deal is very nice I work from 8am-5pm so I just have 1 hour of slower than 4mb speeds, so games and downloads are win win and if openweb offers a proxy wow serv or guild wars or for other games I would die of joy. Also full speeds on week ends! So it is uncapped and it very cheap but when seacom comes I hope they keep the idea and add game proxies with a lower price, if they can do this for R100-200pm I will well I have never been so happy so I don't know!

Try Axxess. Look at the Uncapped and Uncapped+ accounts. Month to Month, line speed from 8pm-8am weekdays and all time during weekends. R999 for fibre and 899 for satelite ( this is your international pipe, I go for fibre because I play mmorpgs and need the lower latency ).
The account says 384k with rolling threshold but keep in mind that its only 384k from 8am-8pm, which is most peoples work times and the rolling threshold also only applies during this window.

Seems like it will cost about R1500 per month to get a 4M line and an uncapped account... Which isn't that bad, can cancel DSTV which is R450 per month (or maybe more these days) and watch everything online... Hmmm... where to get the money...

I take into account the fact that I need a line regardless for work and for play so the expense is not really that great. And if you go uncapped, staying on 384k versus 4Meg is just silly at the price difference.

Yes, I agree... but I still don't have a spare R1500 per month at this stage, my 4gig wireless must do for now... Well, if I take that plus DSTV that is almost R1000 per month, so guess I can get R500 per month somewhere... ponder ponder...

I've just signed-up with them and I'm loving it.
You do get throttled during business-hours, even more so if you abuse the line.
But after-hours and over weekends it absolutely flies!
I get around 460 / 480 KBps downloads after hours.
I have the 384kbps Express+ (Fibre) account for R999 p/m
+ A 4mbps ADSL Line

And if you do what I did and get a closer plan 2 from telkom ( NOT CONTRACT!!!! ), you pay R167 a month for line rental and unlimited callmore calls, so I save on cellphone bill there too. Well at least on my wifes side and her insistense on phoning everyday for 30 mins at night.Exactly
I think I am on that same plan. but also paying R199 pm for the 384/1GB with Telkom-no contract. so is it R1000 for the unlimited cap >384kbps from 8pm-8am additional to axxess? no other costs? so i prolly pay R167 for the Telkom phone line rental plus R152 for the ADSL rental. or is the ADSL line moved to Axxess? can you break it down for us?

But isn't the point to have uncapped 4MB/s after hours, not be limited to 384kbps? Therefore Telkom's Closer 5 would be better for these accounts.

This seems more and more to be the solution. Where can I see Telkoms 4MB line installations? Doesn't help if I can't get a 4MB line? And please don't tell me I must call them...
I think Hellkom has some information that will tell you what kind of packages you can get in certain categories.

Axxess Uncapped+ = R999
Total Cost a month = R1573
By not taking the Closer Option 5 , I save about R100.
