Just upgraded my line to a 4mb one from a 384kb. Haha. Got 450KB/s from ftp.is.co.za and almost passed out when a 100meg file took just over 6 min to download. Tried a whole bunch of international sites and only get 200kb/s (yes, 20KB/S). Lol! This is half the speed I was getting with my 384 line. LoL!

lol...

well i think some one metioned somwhere in the forum, that you need to mulithread your international downloads to max your line...

im hoping i will soon join the elite "4mb" club :D

yep on international most times you need to multithread to get full line speed. Watching a file of 300MB odd size download in 15 to 20min almost gives me a hard on. I suspect I would die if I was ever exposed to 24Mbit speeds.

WOULD BE GREAT FOR TORRENTS ...but here at the butt end of the universe..

Cool. I will give the download managers a go. It sounds like Neotel (from the article announcing their enterprise services) have got a very high capacity local network. Hopefully SEACOM will give them the international capacity that they need to offer me the full 4mb most of the time.

Still dont see the point of a 4mb line for the price with such a small cap.

what's the point of any broadband speed with such small caps?

I would still take a 24Mbps line if we had 3gig caps. It means I get what I want quicker. That too is something I want from my internet experience.
