4mbit speeds gone?

they wont remove 4meg lines because the NEOTEL wont have less than a 2 meg line judging by the speed of the new adsl over power lines

april okes not so long now

Well it was in the news paper.. That all 1meg users will be upgraded to 4meg lines if they support it, cuz the trial was suxcessful.

Really?? So now there are no more 1Mbit lines?? Can anyone confirm this? Gangstarr? Linkey?

And does this not involve any extra costs? Why are more people not talking about this?

///me is suspicious

Just got off the phone with Telkom. They guy that i spoke to said that the 4mbit is here to stay.

The trial is extended indefinitely and for no extra cost with 384 and 512 customers to be automatically upgraded in the next few months as well....

He had me on hold for ages while he was asking his superiors about this. Think it could be legit

As much as I would be grateful for an increase in speed. What I really want is a cheaper package :(

This is true and I am with you 100%. However, 4mbit at least puts us on par with some of the slower international offerings, which is a big step forward.

Prices do need to come down a lot though and caps go up.

Is there any connection between a lot more 4mb users and slow speeds on IS & Saix lately?

Yeah, wouldn't you know, my 4096 line has never been as slow as it has been the last 2 weeks. International bandwidth absolutely sucks

I wonder if they increased their main international pipe.. then again probably not.. after all they charge per MB.. but then Telkom's own ISP with their relaxed capping i'm sure is eating into things..
