4mbps downgraded to 1mbps user experiences

I upgraded from 384 to 1mb and surfing is much better, and my downloads max at around 109 KB/s, not to shabby ...
 
Well Telkom sorted out the port issues. I am now on 1Mb/s ADSL and Uncapped.

just downgraded to 1Mb ... and so far its ok .... but I do miss that extra speed ... but I am prepared to live with it for the cost savings :)
 
I'm with MWEB on the uncapped 4096-incl rental. I sent a mail to [email protected] to downgrade to 1mbps uncapped. I have noticed my line is now syncing at 1024kbps but when I logon to the MWEB My Account page it still says I’m on the 4meg package. Is there anything else I need to do or send them?
 
I did/had the same comet .... and it eventually changes to the 1mbps account after a few days .. they should send you an email once its done with the accounting side .. but the actual change takes a few minutes from my experience.
 
Just my 2 cents - the saving is worth it and you can still pull big files quite easily with a 1mb line. On MWEB uncapped and even though they have their issues sometimes I am 95% happy with them!
 
I am also considering downgrading to 1024kbps, but not sure about the ISPs though...

I have heard Mweb Uncapped has some issues; how does Axxess Uncapped (or any other ISP's uncapped bundle) compare to Mweb?

They all have problems but MWEB is definitely the best of the lot.

You guys haven't been using MWEB the last few months have you? I, as well as many others, have cancelled. I am now on Openweb GOLD and super happy. No issues whatsoever.
 
I'm perfectly happy with my Mweb 1Mbps uncapped. I got the first 3 months for free.
I have no issues with latencies in games on Mweb, except if I try to join Telkom games :)
I have to admit that they are shaping the NNTP (news server) traffic quite a lot during the day, but that doesn't bother me, since I'm downloading pretty much everything I want at night.

If it hasn't changed by today, I would reccomend you give mweb guy a shout and ask him to sort it... They bill you pro rata so the more days you stay on 4mbps, the less you will get off your next bill...

+1 ... u should be seeing the change by now, as well as received an email confirmation of the change
 
Well almost a month down and I have done close to 150gb on the 1mbps line...

Latency has been more or less the same as when I was on 4mbps, and the uncapped speed is 60% of line speed during the day on downloads.

The saving of roughly R350 is benefitting my pocket, and I'm doing about 50gb less than I would have on a 4mbps line. So overall I'm quite happy.

I also scored a 50gb R1 account from afrihost and that is also basically finished... So very impressed with the speeds and amount I can download.

Literally the only irritation is buffering on youtube, because I know how fast the 4mbps does it :p
