4mbps Telkom line slower than dial up

I thought that once my phone/ADSL line was eventually installed by Telkom after 3 months that all my troubles were over - boy was I wrong

I requested (and apparently have according to Telkom a 4 mbps line)

However checking my connection speed on my Netgear DG834G router its download speed is 2232kbps

When I run a speed test on speedtest.net I get the following

I am not totally sure what I should be getting on a 4mbps line, I know you will never get 4mbps exactly but I would expect in the region of 3.5mbps at least

I have logged calls with Telkom and am told the problem has been resolved but clearly it has not

Any ideas? I dont think its my equipment or cables etc
 
post your line stats you can find that on your router stats, i am thinking you have very bad line and you stay very far from the exchange, that is why you only sync at 2mb
