I think the white one is only 4x when you run tri crossfire i could be mistaken though, also i cannot fit the 6970 and 6990 right next to each other. The 6970 covers the other blue slot so it's the white one or nothing :D. I have a pci slot in the middle of them but the temp between them i reckon would melt a pci card :p.

I could put the 6970 in the second slot and the 6990 is the top slot but the 6990 gets so hot i worry about my cpu, ram.

Not sure how much more power the 2 16x slot would give me but i can pretty much play any game with the highest setting.

You can confirm with GPUz, but from the manual it seems that it will be running in 4x mode. No doubt you will be running everything at full, but keep in mind, you can do that pretty much with 2x 6970s as well. :)

I am just saying... If you don't mind, then I won't mind. :D

With two cards you get micro stutter with 3 it's not an issue for some reason :D. If it was running at 4x how much slower would it be?

I will download gpu-z in a little bit

All of cards under gpu-z say bus interface: pci 2.0 x16@x16 2.0. Bus width on each on is 128 so would that be 128 x 3 = 384?

Not sure i could run bf 3 beta with everything on ultra and 80-100 frames with two but ya two is more than enough for most games.

The GPU may output that framerate but it's pretty silly if your screen can't render at that pace. Anything over 60fps is pointless for you, my friend. Having the extra grunt is useful as it keeps that framerate up and prevents slight dips during very high activity, which shows up as a slight stutter.

I am wondering though if that wasn't my problem with bfbc2, i could get 80-100 FPS but it felt like it ran much slower. So your FPS is linked to the hz, so 60hz = 60 frames? Hmmm whats a good 100hz screen then? Time to upgrade i reckon, how fast does a 32" inch tv run.

Hmmm i only bought this setup for bitcoins anyway so perhaps it would be worth selling the my 6970 and getting a 100hz screen? I am going to disable to the 6970 and just run my 6990 and see how many frames i get. I could get 3k for my card and then buy a 42 inch led perhaps.

Running bf 3 on ultra with everything on full doesn't look much better than running everything on high either. So it's not much good having this setup if i cannot make use full of it, bitcoins are only 5 dollars now that it has died. I basically paid off the 6970 with bitcoins so selling it would it would make sense i guess. I have 40 bitcoins still so if it does go back to 10-15 dollars i can come close to paying off the 6990 as well.

Yep total overkill and 100Hz PC screens are ridiculously priced and still TN panel-based which sucks. Best bet is a 100Hz 32" LCD TV (S-PVA panel-based Sony on special at Hifi) at around R5,000. Buy even then this whole 100Hz thing is questionable, as a high level gamer (Sc2 and BLOPS) 60Hz is more than enough if you ask me. 100Hz seems to only act as bragging rights and epeen buffer.

Must get me a 120hz monitor, postman you got any idea on a 40-42 lcd with 120hz?
 
Well I I prefer Samsung because they use S-PVA which is better than IPS, but they only have 100/120Hz available in LED back-lit LCD (UA40D6000 Series). But you may be able to find one of last year's LA40C630/650 which are great TVs and IMO better than LED back-lit LCD due to a few factors. CCFL back-lit LCD tends to have better colours and suffers less from non uniform lighting, a big problem with LED back-lit LCD.

Sony also use S-PVA and their 100Hz are either KDL40EX500/EX600 IIRC.

Would not recommend LG (IPS panels). Poor blacks and higher input lag/latency.

Also remember enabling 100Hz on the above screens may add more input lag. So you really should research this and test and gather whether you really need 100Hz or if it's just another marketed gimmick.

Almost all 100hz LCD TV's input a 50/60hz signal and then 'smooth' it out to 100hz by doing frame interpolation. You need a screen that is able to input the higher bandwidth for increased screen refreshes, which almost inevitably means a 3D LCD TV. Is it better? yes. Is it for you? well if you can't tell the difference between 50hz and 100hz, then it's your loss. I've seen a friend's 2233RZ, and I found it to be noticeably smoother overall, even outside of games.

The problem, imo, is not that 120hz screens are no better, because they are definitely better, but that the price premium is ridiculous. A few months ago, you could have snagged a 2233RZ at R2k (even though it is only 22" at 1680x1050 that's still great value for 120hz/3D) when stock was cleared, but now you won't get anything under 4K.
