Do shops have the right not to refuse 5 cent coins when you make purchases?
to be fair on the shop assistant, if you come up to me with R50 in 5cent coins i'll swat you with the bag
nope
if you pay for R10, you give the shop all 5c coins, the shop has the right NOT to accept the coins.
Anyone has the right, who refuses to accept un-reasonable amount of coins.

Is that the law, if so what are the limits as to how much 5/10/50cent coins you can use as payment.

Legally they have to accept it, but if they don't, what you going to do?
To the letter of the law you have to accept any legal tender. Though you can understand why someone might not.
They don't have to accept it. Banks do, shops don't.
