Hi all,

So I have a 50/50 line and have been experiencing some weird issues as of late.
Connected to our router - Zyxel 69E1 - we have the following;

Ethernet: Just my PC

Wifi:
2x Security Cameras - 720p
5x phones
2x laptops
Smart TV

So lately I've been getting disconnected, just for a few seconds, but enough to DC me from World of Warcraft or my latency going red (1500ms) for short periods of time.
Resetting the router seems to fix it.

But what is the actual issue here, its hard to say. Do I get a new router? Faster Internet? Both? I initially thought the upload speed might be the issue, as that is where I've had problems before, with 20/2 lines, but I saw mine is 50/50 which is actually pretty good methinks.

Replacing the router is fine with me, I'm just worried it doesn't alleviate the issue.

Thanks,

Your internet speed is fine, assuming you do not have heavy uploads and or downloads saturating your line while you are gaming..

Reality is, if you want answers, you need monitoring and logging.. check whatever logging features are available for your router and start with that for logging.. get in instance of smokeping up and running to monitor packet loss/disconnects to important IP addresses like ISP gateway/first hop and very first international hop etc..

Lastly, you see an issue on your computer, but what about other devices..? Do they show symptoms same time as your game disconnects..? Maybe it's a computer issue only..

Thanks for this, a really good response.

Will tinker with it this weekend.
