500 GB

The novelty has worn off now, I can barely do 3 gigs per night from 40gigs per night. I've downloaded and streamed everything I've wanted to see (porn excluded).

Don't think I'll go above 20gb usage this month. Still a damn bargain.

Still a great deal I downgrade my dstv package from compact to access. I'm paying R99 all my favourite soaps/drama/reality shows from Mzansi Magic I watch them on YouTube. Best part I can download them and watch them at my own time.

I'm still downloading movies so far I have downloaded about more than 200 movies. So I'm hoping this deal can go bit longer.

I have feeling December could be the last month.

Why? It's during the quiet hours on their network, costs them minimal and created great positive publicity/feedback. To my knowledge ISP's pay in mbps/gbps so it's TIME based, not DATA based. It's only when they increase the bandwidth that additional costs come into account.

I also think they will keep this for much longer. I am surprised they only chose R50 per bundle though.

Surprised? All the tweens and teens are vampires playing their eyeballs out in the wee hours , it's tough on their pocket money they get - so R50 Justified ! :D

When I posted that, I was going to state a figure I would be willing to pay for the value offered, but I know these forums are watched so nein

Lol funny enough I thought the same thing...we don't want to go and spoil it now do we.

That's true, but then again this is Telkom we're talking about.

I finally decided to get the bundle after I got a new 4TB hard drive a month or two ago and I bought a few nice specials on Steam over the last two days. It literally put a smile on my face when my torrents and Steam downloads were flying! I have a sh*tty 2 Mb/s WiMax connection -- so yeah, night and day. I downloaded a game with the bundle in about the same time it normally takes me to download an Origin update.

I downloaded a torrent with low seeds and peers via uTorrent on the first night (Thursday night). The speed wasn't the best, only ~1 MB/s, but I was still pretty chuffed.

(I stopped the second torrent after 30 mintues)

I got this speedtest result to a Cape Town server on Thursday:

And this one to a London-based server last night:

So, on to last night downloads: I downloaded ~85 GB worth of games from about 00:30 to 06:30. The connection was a bit choppy at first, but it was plain sailing after about half an hour. It was hovering between 6.5 MB/s and 7 MB/s whenever I looked at it.

(When I first put the downloads on)

I've downloaded 110 GB in total over the last two days. I'm going to download another few torrents over the next couple of nights, then I should be done for the month. It's so great to download movies in high quality, especially now that I have enough storage for them! I mean, The Handmaiden's audio bit rate, ~2 000 Kb/s, was about the same as the video bit rates of the movies I normally download. Long live Telkom Mobile! :p

Telkom Mobile - Making your dreams a reality - 500GB at a time :D .

Congrats Fro, welcome to the world of high speed internet even if it is during the night.

Nope it sucks now. Speeds are atrocious compared to 3 months ago.
