500Mbps fibre solution with DStv for developers

Cybersmart has launched a fibre solution for developers, offering them an all-in-one package with 500Mbps fibre access, DStv, an intercom system, CCTV, and access control for their residents.

Cybersmart CTO Laurie Fialkov told MyBroadband that the company's new “fibre package for developers” is aimed at multi-dwelling residential buildings and complexes.

so basically 70% of that cost they're paying is for repeats. then some internet..

Which DSTv bouquet would that be? Do you still need a subscription with Multichoice? 10G data is what we consume daily so eish

Read the article people. The only thing you really get is 10GB+50GB data. Everything else is just the hardware and you have to pay extra.

"A free 500Mbps fibre connection with 10GB anytime and 50GB after-hours data per month"

For a complex this won't even last a day.

He explained that this solution means that developers do not have to find separate suppliers for each of the services they want to offer their residents.

“At R7,999 per unit, once-off, we offer everything a developer needs on a single platform which makes it easier for everyone,” said Fialkov.

He added that this per-unit pricing suits developers, as it works out significantly cheaper than trying to find separate providers for each component.

I really hate reading articles like this.

Really? That is incredible. Maybe it's just connectivity then and individuals buy their own bandwidth on top?
That's what the article said. 60GB I is useless these days if you're a bit of a power user, but if you're my parents it's probably more than we enough.

It is free. It only costs the developer R8k, once off. Now he can sell his units with a vodacom styled "60GB per month" free internet offer or even "FREE 500MBPS Internet*". It is not made to last a day, it is there to create an appetite - let the user taste 10GB @ 500MBPS and watch how they sign up for the bigger packages as their usage increases.

No read the article. You're not actually paying for anything yet.
I saw DSTV and assumed its just another con to keep a dying technology and broadcaster in business. My apologies, i'll read the article...

What's the topup cost??

I suspect their topup, or upgrade rates rather, would be R399 for their 50+250GB capped package or R599 for uncapped.

Note that the 500mbps quoted in the article is probably user adjustable, going by their other products. So the default would be 250 up 250 down.
