re Samsung B550

Try looking at the 50B550. Should be around 14K now. Full HD. Very nice Tv. have one myself.

Hi there,
Looking at your post, you have this TV fo 6 months or so by now. U Still impressed? How does it handle SD content? Im looking at buying a C550 for about 14.5k but have read a few negative reports (lines- on AVS forum) Whats your experience?
Appreciate any feedback.

@Thasegen, i've had the TV for 3 months now,(there were delivery probs, etc). Am loving my Plasma. SD to me on this is better than on my 32" LCD. It's a lot smoother, and not so blocky. It is also not as crisp or sharp, but that's the nature of the tech. The more HD stuff i watch on the Plasma, the more impressed i become. The colours, the depth, it's actually destracting cause it's so good to watch. Gaming is amazing, but i don't game on it:)

On the C550, check with the store. Is it imported or made at Samsung factory here in SA? If it's local, i doubt you'll have the problems they discuss on AVS forum. There are lots of issues with the B550 on AVS, and i have none of those, slight IR, but actually nothing to warrant a reaction. Also, AVS forums, are for those thousands out there that are fanatical. They tend to blow up what their problems are, and further, there are no good threads! So there are probably millions out there that are totally happy with their TV's.

Not sure about the LG. It may be the PQ30 range, which apparently isn't too bad. The PQ10 is bottom of the range, but might still be worth a look at. The samsung, is a "new" model, but pity it's at 9K? the same model (B430) was going at game for R5999 afaik (maybe it was the 42"?) I am scared of Sinotec! Check how far you going to be viewing from the TV, Anything closer than 2m is going to look a little blocky. But good choice for plasma:)

Check out Tafelberg in Bellville (the one on Durban road, just off the N1), they have great service and will beat any price (I got my 50" Sony Bravia reduced from R25k to R18k). Ask for Graeme, very knowledgeable guy.

Didn't that place burn down a short while ago?
