So driving JHB - CT over the long weekend.....will availability of 50ppm be an issue along the way?

I haven't driven JNB-CPT in a diesel - but I've needed to full up on other long distance drives before with no 50, so used 500.

Depends on what car you drive, but I doubt one odd tank of 500 would be a problem.

All the highway-side petrol stations will have 50ppm (Engen's, Shell Ultra-Cities) but be prepared to fork out big time. Diesel, even 500ppm, is seriously overpriced along the N-routes. When in CPT, find Brent-Oil service stations as they are by far the cheapest. If you can get to Beaufort West, there are some cheap 50ppm at the Shell garage there.

Back in the days when I had the Polo, I used to seek out truck-stops along the N1 as the Polo didn't care for 500ppm diesel. Saved up to 75c a litre in some cases.

I don't drive a diesel, so I don't really know, but surely the big service stations in Beaufort, Colesberg, Lainsburg will have 50ppm diesel.

Engen service stations don't usually have 50ppm - found that yet again this morning.

This is a problem here in DBN as well. Waterfall only has 1 service station, an Engen. No 50PPM. I normally fill @ Shell, top end of Fieldshill, in Kloof.

There are 2 Engens at 45th cutting. The bigger one(East bound) did not have 50PPM until recently. The other one(West bound) does not have 50PPM, last time I checked(More than a year ago).

DBN is kind of a detour going to CPT from JHB

I know, just confirming that Engen is a problem with 50PPM. Also the thread topic just stated "50PPM".

I fill up at Engen with 50ppm all the time, Western Cape. No problem. The reason, I can use my ebucks.
